LEDGER STORIES
Privacy Policy
Last updated: [LAUNCH DATE]
Ledger Stories (countityourself.com and the Ledger Stories app) is run by [YOUR NAME OR BUSINESS NAME], in Alberta, Canada. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to delete it. Questions go to [email protected].
The short version
- You can use the app without an account. As a guest, your numbered days, notes and highlights stay on your phone.
- If you sign in, we store those things in your account so they follow you to other devices.
- We don't run ads, we don't sell or rent your information, and we don't use tracking analytics.
- You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app at any time.
What we collect
- Your email address, when you create an account or sign in (by email code or with Google). If you use Google, we receive your name and email from Google, nothing else.
- What you do in the app, if you're signed in: the days you finished a devotional, notes you write, verses you highlight, your reading and reminder settings, and your time zone (so reminders arrive at the right hour).
- Gold membership status: whether you're on a free trial or a paid plan, and when it renews or ends. Card details are handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.
- New-story emails: if you join the list on our website, your email address and when you joined.
- Basic server logs: our hosting providers keep standard logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and to keep the site running.
Who helps us run it
We use a few trusted services. Each only gets what it needs to do its job:
- Supabase: stores accounts and app data.
- Our email delivery service (Resend): sends sign-in codes and links.
- Stripe: processes Gold payments. Some purchases may be sold through Link, Stripe's reseller, which then acts as the seller of record and handles sales tax. Their privacy policies apply to payment details.
- Google: only if you choose "Continue with Google" to sign in.
- YouTube: our story videos are YouTube videos shown in privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube may set cookies once you press play.
- Website hosting and delivery (Cloudflare or Namecheap), plus Google Fonts and the jsDelivr network for fonts and code, which see your IP address when your browser loads them.
On your phone
The app saves your progress and settings in your browser's local storage so it works offline. Signing out removes your account's copy from that phone. Clearing your browser data removes guest data.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data until you delete your account. Payment records are kept by our payment processor for as long as tax and financial laws require. If you've had a Gold free trial, we keep a one-way fingerprint of your email address (a scrambled code, not the address itself) after your account is deleted, only so the same person can't start a second free trial. You can leave the new-story email list at any time by replying "unsubscribe" or emailing us.
Deleting your account
In the app, open the menu and tap Delete account. This cancels any Gold membership right away and permanently deletes your days, notes, highlights, settings and sign-in. If you can't get into the app, email [email protected] from the address on your account and we'll delete it for you within 30 days.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We'll answer within 30 days. If you're in Canada, the EU or the UK, you also have the rights your local privacy laws give you, including the right to complain to your privacy regulator.
Children
Ledger Stories is for families, churches and classrooms, but accounts are for adults. Children under 13 shouldn't create an account. Parents and teachers can use the app and Gold materials with them. If you think a child has made an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and post a note in the app's Announcements.
