Three Things and a Finish Line
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”Matthew 6:34 (KJV)
If you work for yourself, or in a job with no clear end, the day never really ends. There is always one more email, one more task. You go to bed feeling behind, every single night.
One simple fix: name three things that would make today a success. When they are done, call it a good day. Not perfect. Good. Give yourself a finish line.
Jesus gave us permission to stop carrying tomorrow tonight. “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Each day has enough in it. You don’t have to do tomorrow’s work today.
And you don’t have to measure your day by someone else’s scoreboard. “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.” Plan your three things, do them faithfully, and trust him with the rest.
Read it yourself
Read Matthew 6:25–34 again, slowly. Which picture from creation does Jesus use to show God’s care?
What three things would make tomorrow a success?
Lord, you direct my steps. Help me do today’s work faithfully and leave tomorrow with you. Amen.
