When Sight Doesn’t Get the Last Word
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”Isaiah 55:8–9 (KJV)
Most of us trust what we can see. The bank balance, the test result, the look on someone’s face. When what we see is bad, we assume that is the end of the story.
God says otherwise. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
That gap between his view and ours is exactly where faith lives. Paul says it in a few words: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” Walking by faith doesn’t mean ignoring what you see. It means not letting what you see have the last word.
If today’s view looks dark, remember that you are seeing from the ground. God sees from much higher. Keep walking. His ways and thoughts are bigger than this moment.

Read Isaiah 55:6–13. What does God compare his word to in verses 10–11?
What are you seeing right now that you need to stop giving the last word?
Lord, your ways are higher than mine. Help me walk by faith today, not by sight. Amen.
