Empty Your Mind Before You Sleep
“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”Psalm 55:22 (KJV)
Some nights the mind won’t switch off. Tomorrow’s tasks, unfinished conversations and worries all crowd in at once.
Try this before bed. Write down everything that’s on your mind. Then go through the list. Pray over the things you can’t control and hand them to God. Pick the few you can act on tomorrow and leave them on the page. Then close the notebook.
“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” You don’t carry it all night. He does.
Then you can say with David, “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.” Tomorrow’s list will still be there. So will he.
Read it yourself
Read Psalm 4. What does David tell his listeners to do upon their bed?
What burden do you need to hand to God tonight before you sleep?
Lord, I cast my burdens on you tonight. Let me lie down in peace and sleep. Amen.
