Two Reports
“For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”Hebrews 10:14 (KJV)
At the end of the first month of the year, some of us are tallying failures. The habits that didn’t stick, the temper we lost again, the sin we promised would stop. And a voice inside reads out the report: failure.
But there is another report, and it is written. “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” One offering. Perfected. For ever. That is what God says about those who are in Christ.
Our feelings don’t always agree. John knew that, so he wrote, “For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.” Your heart is not the final judge. God is, and he has already ruled.
So whose report will you believe? Keep growing, keep repenting, keep trying. But do it standing on the report that says you are forgiven, not the one that says you are finished.
Read it yourself
Read Hebrews 10:10–18. How many times does the writer say Christ’s offering was made, and what does God say he will remember no more?
Which report have you been believing this month?
Father, my heart condemns me, but you are greater than my heart. I believe your report. Amen.
