This Is That
“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:”Joel 2:28 (KJV)
Hundreds of years before, God made a promise through the prophet Joel: “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.”
On the day of Pentecost, the believers were gathered when the Spirit came. The crowd was confused. Some thought they were drunk. Peter stood up and pointed back to the old promise: “But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.”
Then he explained who had done it. Jesus, “being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.” The risen Christ poured out his Spirit on his people.
The same Spirit lives in every believer today. You don’t do the work God has given you alone. This is that.
