The Obedience Nobody Claps For

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

Most faithfulness goes unseen. Showing up for a spouse who is struggling. Staying patient with a teenager who answers in one word. Praying for someone year after year with nothing to show for it. Nobody claps for that.

It can make you wonder if it matters. Paul says it does: “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” The seed is in the ground even if nothing has come up yet.

Jesus said the same about the good we do quietly: “thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.” He sees the things nobody else does. The late night, the soft answer, the prayer no one knows you prayed.

So keep going. Don’t measure your faithfulness by the applause. Due season comes, and the God who sees in secret doesn’t forget.

Read it yourself

Read Galatians 6:7–10. Who does Paul say we should do good to, and especially to whom?

Reflect

What quiet faithfulness are you tempted to give up on because nobody seems to notice?

Pray

Father, you see in secret. Keep me faithful in the small, unseen things, and help me trust that due season will come. Amen.
