Saints With Records

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”Romans 3:23 (KJV)

It is worth noticing who God uses in the Bible. David, a man after God’s own heart, committed adultery and arranged a murder. Paul was hunting down Christians before he met Jesus. Peter denied knowing Jesus three times. These are the heroes.

Meanwhile, the people who handed Jesus over to be crucified were the religious experts, the ones who knew the scriptures best.

Paul never hid his record. “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” And David’s prayer after his worst sin is still the prayer of anyone who has fallen hard: “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness.”

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” That levels everyone. No one is too good to need grace, and no one is too far gone to receive it. If God could use them, he can use you, and the person you have written off.

Read it yourself

Read Psalm 51:1–12. What does David ask God to create in him?

Reflect

Is there someone you have written off as too far gone? What would it look like to pray for them today?

Pray

Lord, I am a sinner saved by grace. Thank you for using people like me. Help me see others with the same mercy. Amen.

Every verse is quoted from the King James Bible and checked word for word. Open your Bible beside it and count it yourself.
