Nothing to Bring
“And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.”Luke 23:42–43 (KJV)
Two criminals were crucified beside Jesus. One mocked him. The other admitted he deserved what he was getting, and then made a simple request: “Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.”
Jesus answered right away: “Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.”
Think about what that man had to offer. No baptism, no years of service, no chance to make things right. He couldn’t even move his hands. All he had was faith in the one dying next to him. And it was enough.
That is the gospel in its plainest form. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” If you feel like you have nothing to bring, you are in the right place. Bring your need, and ask him to remember you.
Read it yourself
Read Luke 23:39–43. What did the second criminal say to the first?
What do you still think you need to bring to God before he will accept you?
Lord Jesus, I have nothing to bring but my need. Remember me. Amen.
