Could You Put the List Down?
“For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.”Isaiah 30:15 (KJV)
Discipline is good. But it can quietly become the place we find our worth. The checklist gets done, and we feel valuable. A day off the list, and we feel irresponsible, even guilty.
Here’s a simple test. Could you set the list aside for one day and drift through it without heavy stress? If the answer is no, your discipline may be carrying more weight than it should.
God spoke to a people who trusted their own plans more than him: “In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.” Strength came from rest and trust, not from more effort. And sadly, they refused.
Don’t be like them. Your worth was settled at the cross, not on your checklist. Take a day this week and let the list rest. You may find out how much God has been carrying all along.
Read it yourself
Read Isaiah 30:15–18. What does verse 18 say the LORD waits to do?
Has your discipline become the place you find your worth?
Lord, my worth is in you, not in my list. Teach me quietness and confidence. Amen.
