No More Sea

“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.”Revelation 21:1 (KJV)

For someone who has lost a home to a flood, water is not a gentle thing. It is the thing that took everything. The photos, the furniture, the place where the kids grew up. Every storm warning afterwards brings it back.

Read the Bible’s description of the new creation with that in mind. “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.”

And then the promise that follows: “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

Whatever your flood was, whether it was water or loss or grief, God has not promised that it will never come in this life. He has promised that it won’t have the last word. One day, no storm will ever again leave his family homeless.

Read it yourself

Read Revelation 21:1–7. What does the one on the throne say he makes new?

Reflect

What flood in your life do you need to hear God’s promise about today?

Pray

Lord, one day you will wipe away every tear. Until then, hold me through the storms, and help me hope in what is coming. Amen.

Every verse is quoted from the King James Bible and checked word for word. Open your Bible beside it and count it yourself.
