Monday Is Worship Too

“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”Colossians 3:17 (KJV)

We tend to think of worship as something that happens on Sunday: songs, prayers, a sermon. Then Monday comes and we go back to normal life. But Scripture doesn’t split life that way.

“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” Whatsoever. That covers the meeting, the spreadsheet, the customer who is having a bad day and the boss who doesn’t notice.

Paul was writing some of those words to servants, people with little control over their work. Even so: “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” Their ordinary work could be offered to Christ.

Yours can too. The way you lead a team, serve a client or finish a job when no one is watching is part of your worship. No stage required. Try going into work this week thinking of it that way.

Read it yourself

Read Colossians 3:22–24. What does Paul say they will receive from the Lord?

Reflect

What part of your work would change if you did it as unto the Lord?

Pray

Lord, let my work be worship. Help me do it heartily, for you. Amen.

Every verse is quoted from the King James Bible and checked word for word. Open your Bible beside it and count it yourself.
