Missing a Day Isn’t the Failure

“For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.”Proverbs 24:16 (KJV)

Most good habits don’t die because we miss one day. They die because we use the miss as permission to quit. I already blew it this week, so why bother? One empty box on the calendar turns into an empty month.

Scripture expects falling. What it doesn’t accept is staying down. “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again.” The difference between the just man and anyone else isn’t that he never falls. It is that he gets up.

Micah says it with defiance: “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.”

The point of a good habit was never a perfect streak. It is who you become while you keep at it. So if you missed yesterday, don’t make it two. Get up today. That is the habit that matters most.

Read it yourself

Read Micah 7:7–9. What does Micah say he will do while he waits for the LORD?

Reflect

Where have you let one missed day become your excuse to quit?

Pray

Lord, when I fall, help me rise again. Don’t let one failure turn into a reason to stop following you. Amen.
