Joy Cometh in the Morning
“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”Psalm 30:5 (KJV)
God’s days have always started in the dark. Every day of creation is counted the same way: “the evening and the morning.” Darkness first, then light.
The psalmist knew that pattern in his own life. “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” The night is real. So is the morning.
And on the most important morning in history, the pattern held. “The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.” She came in the dark. She found the stone already moved.
If you are in a night season, you are not outside of God’s pattern. You are inside it. The evening always comes first in his days. The morning is on its way.
Count it yourself
“the evening and the morning were” closes each of the six days of Genesis 1, evening first (1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 31).
What night are you walking through right now? What morning are you waiting for?
Lord, weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Hold me through the dark. Amen.
