Fly the Plane You Were Given
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)
Picture a pilot so worried about the weather that he stops flying the plane. He stares at storm clouds, checks forecasts, frets about the wind, while the controls in his own hands go untouched. That would be dangerous.
A lot of worry works like that. We try to control things we were never handed: other people’s choices, the economy, next year. Meanwhile we neglect the one plane we were actually given, today’s obedience.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Our part is trust and acknowledging him. The directing is his.
Peter puts it simply: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” The weather belongs to God. Fly your plane. Do the next right thing in front of you, and leave the sky to him.
Read it yourself
Read Proverbs 3:1–8. List what the passage asks you to do and what it promises God will do.
What are you trying to control that was never yours to fly?
Lord, the weather is yours. Help me fly the plane you gave me today, and cast the rest on you. Amen.
