Your Marriage Is Their First Sermon
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”Ephesians 4:32 (KJV)
Parents often look for the right method: the right chart, the right book, the right devotional for the kids. Those can help. But children learn the gospel first by watching the two people at the centre of the home.
How do you treat each other after a fight? Who says sorry first? Do you keep score, or do you forgive? Your children see it all. Faith is caught as much as it is taught.
Paul says marriage is a picture of something bigger: “This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.” A marriage where two sinners keep repenting and forgiving each other is a daily sermon on grace.
So the best parenting plan might start with your spouse. “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Let your kids see that in the kitchen. They will remember it longer than any lesson.

Lord, let our marriage preach your grace to our children. Make us kind, tenderhearted and quick to forgive. Amen.
