You Grow What You Celebrate
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:”Hebrews 10:24 (KJV)
In any home or team, people learn quickly what really matters by what gets celebrated. If only results get praise, people learn that they are only worth what they produce.
Celebrate effort, faithfulness, character and courage, and you grow more of those things. You grow what you celebrate.
Jesus told a parable about a master who praised his servant this way: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things.” Notice the words: good and faithful. Faithful over a few things.
Hebrews tells us to “consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.” Think about the people you lead, at home or at work. What could you notice and praise in them this week that isn’t a number?
Read it yourself
Read Matthew 25:14–30. What did the master say to the two faithful servants?
What do the people around you learn from what you celebrate?
Lord, help me see and praise faithfulness in others the way you do. Amen.
