No Deal With a Defeated Enemy
“And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:”Deuteronomy 7:2 (KJV)
God told Israel how to deal with the nations in the land: “thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them.” No treaties. No compromise. No living side by side with what God had judged.
Many teachers see a picture here for believers and the devil. Christ has already beaten him. “having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” He took on flesh “that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.”
So why do we still make deals with a defeated enemy? We agree with his lies about us. We tolerate the sin he whispers is harmless. Paul says simply, “Neither give place to the devil.” Don’t give him a room in your house.
And if you have given him place, you are not lost. “if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” Break the deal today. You belong to the one who won.

Read Colossians 2:13–15. What did Christ nail to his cross, according to verse 14?
Where have you made a quiet deal with something Christ already defeated?
Lord Jesus, you triumphed over every power. I break every deal with the enemy and stand in your victory. Amen.
