Made Stronger
“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope:”Romans 5:3–4 (KJV)
Have you ever asked God to make you stronger? Most of us have. Then the hard season comes, and we start praying for it to end.
A muscle only grows by being worked past what is comfortable. The strain is part of the growing. It is possible that the thing you keep asking God to remove is his answer to your prayer to be made strong.
Paul saw it that way: “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope.” Tribulation, patience, experience, hope. Each one builds the next.
And when Paul begged God to take his own weakness away, God said, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” You may not feel stronger in the middle of it. That is often when his strength is doing its best work.
Read it yourself
Read 2 Corinthians 12:7–10. What does Paul say he will gladly glory in?
Is there a hard thing in your life that might be God answering your prayer for strength?
Lord, I asked you to make me strong. Give me grace to trust you in the strain, and let your strength be made perfect in my weakness. Amen.
