He Spared Not His Own Son
“Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.”Isaiah 53:10 (KJV)
When life hurts, one question comes quickly: if God loved me, would he let this happen? Scripture answers with the cross. “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”
Isaiah says something even harder to take in: “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief.” The Father loved the Son perfectly, and the Son still suffered. So suffering can’t be proof that God doesn’t love us.
Peter goes further. He tells believers to “rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.” Our pain can be a kind of fellowship with him.
If you are hurting today, you are not forgotten. The God who did not spare his own Son for you is not going to abandon you in the middle of this.

Read Romans 8:31–39. List everything Paul says cannot separate us from the love of God.
Have you been reading your pain as a sign that God doesn’t care? What does the cross say instead?
Father, you did not spare your own Son for me. Help me trust your love when I am hurting. Amen.
