He Remembers That We Are Dust

“For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.”Psalm 103:14 (KJV)

Some of us expect more of ourselves than God does. We are frustrated by our weakness, impatient with our slow growth, harsh with our failures. God is gentler than that.

“For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.” He made us. He knows exactly what we are made of, and he isn’t surprised when we are weak.

Matthew quotes Isaiah about Jesus: “A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench.” A bruised reed is almost broken. A smoking wick is almost out. Jesus doesn’t finish them off. He protects what is left.

If your faith feels small and weak today, you aren’t a disappointment to him. He knows your frame. Rest in his patience, and let him tend the little flame.

Read it yourself

Read Psalm 103:8–14. List what David says the LORD has not done to us.

Reflect

Where are you harder on yourself than God is?

Pray

Lord, you remember that I am dust. Thank you for your patience with my weakness. Amen.

Every verse is quoted from the King James Bible and checked word for word. Open your Bible beside it and count it yourself.
