Christ Our Passover
“Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:”Exodus 12:5 (KJV)
The night Israel left Egypt, every household needed a lamb. “Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year.” They were to eat it in one house, and there was a strange detail: “neither shall ye break a bone thereof.”
Then the promise: “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you.” Safety wasn’t in being better than the Egyptians. It was in being under the blood.
On the day Jesus died, the soldiers broke the legs of the men crucified beside him, but not his, because he had already died. John says, “For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.”
Paul puts it all together in five words: “Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.” Tonight, on the evening of the last supper, remember that judgment passes over everyone who is under his blood.

Read Exodus 12:21–28. What were the people to tell their children when they asked about the Passover?
Are you trusting your own goodness, or the blood of the Lamb?
Christ my passover, you were sacrificed for me. I shelter under your blood. Amen.
