A Season for Everything
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)
There is a lot of pressure to be the kind of person who wakes up at four. Up before the sun, workout done, Bible read, inbox cleared. If that works for your season, good. But rising early doesn’t make you a better person.
Jesus did rise early sometimes. “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” The point was the prayer, not the alarm clock.
Your body has seasons. A new baby, a night shift, an illness, a stretch of grief. Some seasons allow early mornings and hard training. Some need more sleep and gentler days. “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
Don’t measure your faithfulness by someone else’s schedule. Find time with God that fits the season you’re in, and take care of the body he gave you in a way that fits it too.
Read it yourself
Read Ecclesiastes 3:1–8. Which of these seasons best describes the one you are in now?
What would faithful care for your body and soul look like in your current season?
Lord, you know the season I’m in. Help me be faithful in it, without comparing myself to others. Amen.
